Pilot Briefing on the aerodrome website www.egld.com.
Non-radio aircraft not accepted without prior permission from the AD Operator.
Normal HR of opening may be extended by prior arrangement with ATS (extended HR are not automatically licensed).
Pilots are responsible for the safety and conduct of their passengers whilst at the AD.
There are no hard taxiways. After heavy rain or snow the surface may be unsuitable for some aircraft types: contact ATS.
Avoid damaging the grass by unnecessary use of brakes to tighten turns.
Aircraft with poor prop clearance should enter / exit south at runway ends.
Not applicable.
The aerodrome is located within the northern boundary of the London Control Zone (Class D).
There is no overhead join. Northolt traffic overflies Denham not below 1500 FT AMSL. To ensure safe separation Denham maximum circuit altitude 1000 FT AMSL.
Avoid south-west part of the ATZ south of the A40 road.
A public road adjacent to the aerodrome boundary crosses the approach to Runway 24. Aircraft should not descend below the glidepath nor touch down before the displaced threshold.
APAPI: Visual glideslope signals for Runway 06 are visible to the left of the extended centreline where normal obstacle clearance is not guaranteed. Disregard APAPI until the aircraft is aligned with the runway.
Powerlines, 369 FT AMSL, 270°T, running north/south, 0.6 NM from ARP.
Helicopters should fly the same circuit as fixed wing.
Runway 06/24 circuits are to the north: Runway 06 has a left hand circuit; Runway 24 has a right hand circuit.
Runway 12/30 has a variable circuit.
There is a grass strip to the north of, and parallel to, Runway 06/24 (“north side grass”).
Simultaneous approaches to the north side grass and Runway 06/24 are not permitted.
Simultaneous departures from the north side grass and Runway 06/24 are not permitted.
Only authorised operators may give flying instruction at the aerodrome.
Runway 12/30 not available for solo training flights.
Pilots may deviate from noise abatement procedures to ensure flight safety.
Pilots must maintain safe separation and should fly a larger circuit if necessary to provide safe separation.
Runway 24 Arrivals: report at VRP Maple Cross, establish a long base leg. Overfly the lakes (where safely possible).
Runway 06 Arrivals: report at VRP St Giles, establish a long base leg. Overfly fields to try to avoid most houses in Chalfont St Peter and Gerrards Cross (where safely possible).
Runway 24 Departures: after take off maintain runway heading until past the houses on the right, then turn right before the A413 (where safely possible).
Runway 06 Departures: after take off maintain runway heading until past the caravan site on the left, then turn left over the lakes (where safely possible).
Keep the circuit small (where safely possible): turn downwind south of Chalfont St Peter and Maple Cross unless safe separation requires otherwise.
There is no overhead join. Maximum altitude 1000 FT AMSL.
Details of VRPs are available in the consolidated 'Visual Reference Points List' published on the 'Digital Dataset' page of the NATS AIS website, www.nats.aero/ais.
To join the circuit, descend to circuit altitude 1000 FT AMSL, report at the VRP and establish a long base leg.
Look out for aircraft downwind.
Joining traffic must give way to circuit traffic.
Pilots should not orbit in the circuit.
Circuit altitude 1000 FT AMSL.
Use available equipment to aid conspicuity: landing light On; strobes On; transponder Alt.
Pilots should give position reports downwind and final.
After take off maintain runway heading, turn onto crosswind and climb to circuit altitude 1000 FT AMSL.
Extend crosswind leg towards the appropriate VRP.
Pilots in receipt of a clearance from Heathrow Radar or Northolt Approach may deviate in accordance with their clearance.
Denham LFA is that part of the Denham ATZ that lies within the London Control Zone (Class D).
Pilots of aircraft flying within the LFA are responsible for providing their own separation from other aircraft.
VFR flights may take place within the LFA subject to the following conditions:
In compliance with the Class D airspace weather minima as defined in ENR 1.4;
Maximum altitude 1200 FT AMSL.
Note: Refer to ENR 1.4 for notifications.
Aircraft unable to operate VFR may operate Special VFR within the LFA subject to the following conditions:
Remain clear of cloud with the surface in sight;
Maximum altitude 1200 FT AMSL;
Minimum flight visibility 3 KM;
In compliance with the requirements for Special VFR flight detailed at ENR 1.2.
Aircraft flying in the LFA are not required to comply with the requirements of the London CTR Mode S Transponder Mandatory Zone, however:
The carriage of a Mode S transponder within the LFA is encouraged;
Pilots of suitably equipped aircraft should select 7000 with altitude information.
Aircraft operating VFR or Special VFR in the London CTR inbound to Denham may request a non-standard join. Pilots must contact Denham before entering the ATZ and must fit in with circuit traffic. If not visual with circuit traffic, or if the circuit is busy, the aircraft must join via the appropriate VRP.
Aircraft operating VFR or Special VFR in the London CTR must not assume permission has been issued to penetrate the Denham LFA. Heathrow Radar will, whenever possible, permit an aircraft to leave the frequency temporarily to obtain such permission.
Pilots requiring a VFR or Special VFR clearance to transit the London CTR must not enter the CTR until a clearance has been obtained.
Use of the overhead is possible with a clearance (e.g. for simulated engine failures in the overhead). The instructor should contact Heathrow Radar or Northolt Approach to obtain a clearance to join overhead, then obtain a frequency change to Denham.
Northolt traffic in the Northolt Radar Manoeuvring Area (RMA) cross the Denham ATZ not below 1500 FT AMSL. To ensure separation, Denham circuit altitude 1000 FT AMSL. Aircraft wishing to enter the Northolt RMA must obtain clearance from Northolt on 126.450 MHz.
Inbound aircraft
Aircraft inbound via the ATS Route Network must follow the Heathrow Standard Arrival Routes (STAR) as shown at AD 2-EGLL-7-1 to 7-17. Pilots are to include EGLDZTZX in their Flight Plan.
Outbound aircraft
The Denham ATSU will notify the pending departure to London Terminal Control (Swanwick) (LTCC). The Denham ATSU will relay to pilots after departure instructions including the frequency for the appropriate LTCC sector and the pilot must request clearance to join CAS.
